JAMMU, July 25: State Bank of Patiala (SBP), a 97 year ‘YOUNG’ institution, and wholly owned by the State Bank of India, has started a unique initiative in the Banking Sector for the welfare of the girl child, differently abled persons and underprivileged section of the society.
In this model, it would contribute a fixed amount for each opening of new savings/current account and each transaction put through under electronic/alternate modes of transactions, towards fulfilling its social obligations as a responsible Corporate Citizen.
Elaborating on this initiative, SA Ramesh Rangan, Managing Director, SBP, stated today that the Bank will contribute Rs 50 for each current account opened, Rs 5 for each new savings account, 10 paise for each transaction on the alternate delivery platform like Internet Banking/ Mobile Banking, ATM transactions and Point of Sale (POS) and Rs 2 for every new user of Internet Banking/Mobile Banking towards the corpus.
This would be used to provide necessary assistance to the needy individuals as also supporting organisations doing valuable service in these sectors, he added.
On this occasion, the Bank also inaugurated 25 new branches across the country in a function held at its Delhi Network office, dedicated to serving the country’s banking needs.
The 25 new branches of the bank are located in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and the Union Territory (UT) of Chandigarh, Rangan said, adding with these branches, the Bank’s network has reached 1254 spread across 23 States and UTs.
