Over 6000 perform darshan of ‘Icy Lingam’

JAMMU, July 25: On the day 28 of yatra today 6,289 pilgrims paid obeisance to Icy Lingam in holy cave of Swami Amarnath situated in deep Himalayas in South Kashmir district of Anantnag at an altitude of 14000 feet.
According to an official spokesman, 6,289 paid obeisance in the cave shrine today. With this the total number of pilgrims performing darshan of Icy Lingam since the yatra started on June 28 has touched 3,31, 929.
The spokesman said the weather on both the tracks to the holy cave area was pleasant and yatra proceeded smoothly.
The spokesman said 2206 pilgrims left from Nunwan (Pahalgam) to holy cave early this morning while 2824 pilgrims left from Baltal base camp to holy cave this morning. They included 863 pilgrims who left by chopper, he added.
He said the pilgrims having a night halt at Sheshnag and Panchtarni camps also left for their onwards sojourn in the early morning under tight security.
Meanwhile, a fresh batch of 823 pilgrims left Bhagwati Nagar Jammu Yatri Niwas for holy cave early this morning under tights security in a cavalcade of 22 vehicles. They included 538 male, 176 female, eight children and 101 Sadhus.
All these pilgrims have reached their respective destinations in Kashmir Valley when last came in where from they will leave for next sojourn tomorrow morning.
