SRINAGAR, July 30: Clashes broke out in Rakhama area of Shopian after a teenager’s body was found in an orchard today.
Reports said that a teenager, Yawar Ahmad Ganaie son of Muhammad Amin Ganaie, of Pariwan, Kulgam, a 10th class student went missing yesterday.
Residents of Rakhama village, found a dead body lying in an orchard in their area. They later informed police which took custody of the body. A rope and a stick were found near the body.
Residents of Pariwan village said that they saw some local youth taking away Yawar with them yesterday evening.
When residents of Pariwan came to know about the incident they took to streets and staged protest demonstrations. Later they marched to Rakhama and set on fire cowshed, a granary and ransacked house of Muhammad Ibrahim Ganaie. Fire and Emergency services rushed to the spot but were not allowed by Pariwan villagers to move to Rakhama to douse the flames.
Rakhama village is under the jurisdiction of Shopian police while Pariwan Kulgam police.
