POONCH, July 15: Son of the soil, Dr Shahzad Ahmad Malik, who after taking the charge of Vice Chancellor, Sai Nath University, today visited his native district for the first time, was accorded a historic and warm welcome by the people of Poonch.
Malik accompanied by MP Choudhary Munawwar Saleem from UP, Peer-e-Tariquat Syed Mohammad Arif Razvi of Bahraich, delegation of teaching faculty of the said university and other reputed persons, was given a warm welcome and garlanded at Bhimber Gali, where hundreds of his well wishers were waiting for him since morning.
It is pertinent to mention here that Dr Malik has been appointed youngest ever VC of Sai Nath University, Agra recently. His achievement has made people of State feel proud. He hails from a remote village of Mendhar in district Poonch and did his early education there. Then he went to Agra for B.Sc Agriculture after completing 12th from Poonch and continued higher studies.
Addressing a mammoth gathering at Mendhar, Malik said, “We must be proud that we are the citizen of a big democratic set up of the world where a person hailing from any region, caste or colour having potential and with his hard work can obtain the high post.”
Interacting with the youth, he said the students should be mentally alert, socially developed and educationally advanced in this modern society and to achieve their goals they must be hard working by nature. The VC announced that he and the authorities of Sai Nath University are ready to serve the youth of the State in the Educational field. He opined that orphan and needy students of the State should be provided free education. Besides, he also opined to open technical centers for female students belonging to weaker sections of the society so that they can earn their livelihood.
Munawwar Saleem, while addressing the public at Poonch, endorsed the title of ‘Poonch’s Pride’ given to the youngest VC by the public. He added that the administrative and the hardworking qualities of Dr Malik moved him to visit his home district.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were MLC Javed Rana, Ex MLC Rasheed Qureshi, Abdul Majeed Khan, Ch Zafrullah, Amar Singh Josh and Sarpanchs and Panchs of the area.
