DDC reviews physical, financial progress of ongoing MGNREGA works

SAMBA, Aug 1: District Development Commissioner, Samba, Mubarak Singh today convened a meeting of Activation and Empowerment of District Road Safety Committee Samba, in order to discuss the effective measures for collecting, comparing and analyzing road accidents data, provision of trauma and health care facilities to the victims of the road accidents and mitigate the road accident deaths and for better management of traffic within the district.
Different issues discussed during the meeting were organization of awareness programmes for educating the youths especially about the rules and regulations of traffic, repairing of roads near railway crossing Samba, Nanak Chak, filling of pits near Bhargava College etc.
He gave instructions to the ARTO, Police and, Traffic officials for regular monitoring of vehicles intended for proper implementation of traffic rules and regulations besides checking overloading and also to minimize the chances of road accidents besides instructing concerned officers for immediately repairing of roads and filling of pits.
Among others ADC Samba, Addl. SP Samba, ARTO Samba, EXn Eng. PWD ANDCIVSG-SO1 were also present on the occasion.
Later, DDC also reviewed the Physical and Financial progress of ongoing works of MGNREGA for the year 2014-15 (ending june2014).
The DDC issued directions to the officers of Rural Development Department to mobilize their field functionaries and speed up the pace of works so as to provide benefits to the rural poor as per the guidelines of the scheme and impressed upon the officers to given special attention for the conservation/development of traditional water bodies/pond as they are very important source of water for irrigation and other purposes in rural areas.
He also directed the officers that the works should be inspected vigorously and ensure completion of works strictly as per required quality specifications.
