JAMMU, Aug 1: A meeting of the officers of School Education Department comprising Joint Directors Law and Nodal Officers (SSA) of Education Department, Chief Education Officers, Principal DIETs, Executive Engineers of PWD (R&B) and PHE, Health Officer of Directorate of Health Services Jammu and other officers was held today at the Directorate of School Education here.
The meeting was presided over by Secretary, School Education Department, Nirmal Sharma.
The Secretary took a review of almost all the components of the School Education Department and had a thorough and detailed discussion about the various components of SSA, RMSA and Sakshar Bharat Mission (SBM).
The Secretary directed all the Chief Education Officers of Jammu Division to ensure that no child in their concerned districts remains un-enrolled and advised them to make every effort for the total enrolment of children for which she set the target date of September 30th, 2014. She emphasized that out of school children be enrolled on a war footing within the month of September. She also categorically stated that the progress regarding the enrolment of out of school children will be reflected in the APRs of the concerned Chief Education Officers.
Regarding the civil works in SSA/RMSA, the Secretary directed that a close liaison between the Engineering Department and Chief Education Officers is mandatory, for timely completion of the civil works under SSA/RMSA. She also directed all the CEOs that requisite measures and steps should be undertaken for starting the buildings under SSA/RMSA which have so far not been completed. The VEC members and Sarpanchs of the concerned areas of the districts be approached for fulfilling the necessary requirements for the completion of the buildings.
Regarding the Mid Day Meal Scheme being implemented in the schools, she was much emphatic on serving the meals to the children in a hygienic manner and also directed the concerned officers to come up with substantial suggestions for the implementation of the scheme. She also directed that there is need to improve the kitchen devices for successful implementation of the scheme.
The Secretary Education also stressed the need of improving the quality education at the grass root level and every teacher should strive for more than 70% result at the terminal classes like 10th and 12th standards in their respective schools. She also emphasized that teachers with good results will be awarded certificates of appreciation and those whose performance as Teachers is below standard will be liable for action as warranted under rules.
