Protest against shortage of doctors in SDH Ramnagar

UDHAMPUR, Aug 1: The people from Ramnagar town led by NPP activists held protest demonstration against the State Health authorities for the shortage of doctors in Sub District Hospital and other PHCs of the constituency.
The protesters blocked the road for over two hours from 10 am to 12 noon and raised slogans against the State Government and Health and Medical Education Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din. They alleged that against the sanctioned strength of 15, only 7 doctors were in place at SDH while Gynaecologist and most other specialists were not available.
Not only this hospital, in most of the PHCs and Health Sub Centres of the Block, there was shortage of staff. A total 31 posts of doctors were lying vacant in the entire block. The people of the area were suffering badly. Even in case of delivery, the patients are referred to Udhampur District Hospital. Not even small surgery cases are handled here. There is no specialist of anesthesia in the hospital.
The agitating people raised slogans against the health authorities and disrupted movement of traffic. Later, SDM Basantgarh and SDPO Ramnagar reached the spot and assured the people to take up issue with the concerned higher officials. The people then lifted dharna from the site.
