SRINAGAR, Aug 2: Police today detained three cops including a Head Constable of robbing a businessman off Rs 6 lakhs at Tourist Reception Centre (TRC), Srinagar.
A businessman Tassaduq Hussain Dar son of Safdar Ali Dar of Mahore Budgam was carrying Rs 6 lakhs in a bag and was travelling in an autorickshaw from a Bank near TRC, Srinagar, when three cops – Head Constable Jalal-u-Din, Constable Showkat Ahmad and Constable Imtiyaz Ahmad – of Police Station Nageen stopped him and was asked to sit in their gypsy.
Dar was whisked away in the gypsy and his bag was snatched and he was dropped at a secluded place.
Dar immediately rushed to Rambagh Police Station to register complaint but he was directed to Kothi Bagh Police Station for lodging a complaint. The Kothi Bagh police traced the mobile numbers which pointed to the three cops of Nigeen Police Station.
Kothi Bagh police detained three cops for questioning.
