JAMMU, July 15: An inaugural function was organised today by All India Masih Seva Dal (AIMSD) J&K under the chairmanship of advisor, All India Masih Seva Dal, Pastor Joney Bhatti, at Qasim Nagar, Jammu.
The chief guest of the function was Ex-MP and Ex-Advisor to CM, Janak Raj Gupta while chairman, AIMSD Issac Bhatti and vice-chairman, AIMSD, Nico Demes, were the guests of honour.
Chief patron, AIMSD, Showkat Peter, presided over the function while some Congress leaders including Kirten Singh, Deedar Singh, Ved Prakash Bhagat, Sunil Sharma and Parshotam Mehra were also present.
While giving welcome speech, Issac Bhatti and Nico Demes expressed their gratitude to Oscar Fernandes, MP and general secretary, AICC, DyCM Tara Chand, former Minister Janak Raj Gupta and Commissioner JMC Kuldeep Khajuria for releasing funds for the development of Christian grave yards.
Speaking on the occasion, president, AIMSD, J&K, Camres David appealed AICC president, Sonia Gandhi, Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Oscar Fernandes, MP and general secretary AICC to provide 2% reservation to Christian community in Government jobs. He also demanded reservation of one MLA and one MLC seat in the State Legislature.
AIMSD also asked for construction of separate Christian colonies in every district besides other demands including allotting agrarian land to the community residing in rural areas, declaration of Good Friday as a gazetted holiday, revision of J&K Minority Commission and inclusion of at least one member from Christian community in the Minority Commission.
