Chiralla residents hold protest, demand tehsil status to Puneja

BHADERWAH, Aug 5: The residents of Chiralla area of tehsil Thathri held a massive protest against Government for sanctioning tehsil headquarter at Seava area by ignoring the centrally located place Puneja.
Large number of people blocked Doda-Chiralla road and staged protest against the Government for not granting tehsil headquarters to centrally located place Puneja. Hundreds of vehicles got stranded due to road blockage.
“The order for grating Tehsil headquarters at Cheralla is a conspiracy. We demand immediate revocation of the order”, said Ramesh Manhas, Sarpanch Bhalara Panchayat of Chiralla area.
Swami Raj, Sarpanch Puneja, Krishan Singh Sarpanch Jagota, Gandarb Singh Sarpanch Rokali and protesters said that they were assured that central place Puneja would be given Tehsil status but Seawa was declared as tehsil headquarters instead of Puneja which is the central place of 8 Panchayats of the area.
The protestors demanded tehsil status for centrally located place Puneja and warned the Government to launch indefinite strike and hunger strike if their demand of tehsil status to Puneja is not redressed.
