Political interference affecting potential of Tangmarg: PDP

SRINAGAR, Aug 7: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief spokesperson, Naeem Akhtar, said the political interference in Tangmarg constituency has adversely affected the economic potential of this richly endowed area.
Addressing a public gathering, at Serdhangerpora in Tangmarg constituency, he said people of this constituency will have to take an initiative to restore their dignity, as their present representative has made every attempt to compromise it for his peculiar political interests.
Appealing the people to empower Mohammad Abbas Wani, the PDP candidate, in next elections, Akhtar said the right thinking people of Tangmarg alone can retrieve the situation and script a bright future for themselves.
He said PDP during its brief tenure took up major initiatives to give boost to the tourism in the area but those have been aborted by the present NC Government. He said there is development crisis prevailing in the entire area and the people have to suffer on multiple fronts, adding that the entire road network in the area is in shambles and it is ironic that besides the important tourism area the Government has failed to develop it over the years.
Referring to four laning of Narbal-Qamariwari road, which was started during the previous Government, under the Prime Minister’s reconstruction programme, the PDP chief spokesperson said even eight years have passed now and it has not been completed yet.
He said PDP will focus on the development needs of the entire constituency and develop it without interfering with its environs.
Seeking mandate of the people, Mohammad Abbas Wani in his address assured the people of Tangmarg that he will sincerely represent their aspirations and feeling in the democratic institutions of the State and do everything possible to come up to their expectations.
Zonal president, Abdul Aziz Dar and local leader Prof Abdul Jabbar were also present.
