NEW DELHI, Aug 8:A BJP member today sought to raise in Lok Sabha the issue of denial of permission to Kashmiri Pandits to undertake a yatra to Kounsarnag lake in the Valley.
Anurag Thakur said the matter needs to be discussed in the House as the voice of Kashmiri Pandits was not being heard in Jammu and Kashmir as it is a small minority and displaced as well.
He said the matter needed to be discussed urgently as the auspicious period for the yatra will come to an end soon.
Speaker Sumitra Mahajan disallowed him saying it could be taken up next week.
Concern was also raised in the House over use of Endosulfan, an insecticide, with some members saying it was causing major ailments to people in Kerala and Karnataka.
Shobha Karandlaje (BJP) said 7,000 people had been seriously affected by this deadly insecticide in Karnataka and 10,000 in Kasargod in Kerala.
She demanded setting up of a corpus by the Central Government to help the victims monetarily besides getting them medically treated.
P Karunakaran (CPI-M) said use of Endosulfan has been banned but some website are still displaying their use.
Virendra Kumar (BJP) raised concern over children going missing at a large scale and said some remedial steps should be taken.
Citing an estimate, he said 44,000 children go missing every year and only 11,000 are found. Most of the missing children fall in the hands of naxals or human traffickers and are abused, he said. (PTI)
