JAMMU, Aug 8: The 4th District Level Science Exhibition 2014 under Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspire Research (INSPIRE) Award Scheme of Ministry of Science and Technology Government of India concluded here today.
The two-day exhibition was organized by DIET Jammu at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Shastri Nagar Jammu.
Director School Education Jammu, H.R. Pakhroo was the chief guest while Chief Education Officer Jammu Tarsem Lal and Chief Education Officer Udhampur were the guests of honour on the occasion.
In this Exhibition 5 students in each district were selected on merit basis for participating further in the State Level Exhibition.
About 141 models were displayed during the exhibition by the students. In order experience the joy of innovation, every year school children in the age-group of 10 to 15 years i.e., 6th to 10th standards are being identified for the INSPIRE Award. Each student will get an amount of Rs 5000 for making a project and transportation cost for displaying the exhibits/ project in the exhibition.
Director School Education was highly impressed by the hard work put in by the students in the Exhibition and appreciated their scientific skills and talent.
Roshan Lal Gupta I/C Principal DIET Jammu in his welcome address said that the scheme is beneficial for the students as it provides them an opportunity to exhibit their talent.
Principal DIET Kud (Udhampur) J.M. Tharmat also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the achievements of DIET Kud.
A team of faculty members from DIET Assam also visited Science Exhibition and interacted with the students. Faculty members appreciated the efforts put in by the students in preparation of innovative Models/Projects.
A colourful culture programme was also presented by the students of GHSS Shastri Nagar. Omesh Khar HoD ET wing presented vote of thanks and Dr. Chander Shekhar HoD and Sandhra Malhotra HoD conducted the proceeding.
