DDC flags off vehicles hired under RBSK

SAMBA, Aug 12: A  meeting of prominent persons and representatives of different social organizations and political parties of Samba town and adjoining area was held under the  chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Samba, Mubarak Singh at conference hall Nandni Hills here.
During the meeting, a number of issues like maintenance of law and order, departmental activities problems related with industrial pollution, maintenance of historical Samba Fort, opening of blood bank, regular supply of water, timely supply of ration, improvement and operationalization of bus stand etc. were highlighted.
DDC patiently heard the issue raised by the citizens and assured that all issues will be attended and sought their cooperation in maintaining congenial atmosphere to take district on the path of development and prosperity.
The meeting among others was attended by the SSP Samba, ADDC Samba, ADC Samba,  AC(R) CPO Samba besides district & sectoral officers were also present on the occasion.
Later, DDC Samba Mubarak Singh today flagged off vehicles hired under Rashtriya Bal Swasthaya Karyakaram (RBSK) in order to provide comprehensive care to all the children in the community enrolled in AWCs & Schools.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC Samba said that the objective of this initiative is to improve the overall quality of life of children through early detection of birth Defects, Diseases, Deficiencies, Development Delay and Disability as the high burden of these childhood ill health contributes significantly to child mortality, morbidity and out of pocket expenditure of the poor families.
It was informed that six Mobile health teams (two for each medical block consisting of two Doctors , one Pharmacist & one FMPHW in each team)  have been formulated under RBSK for the screening of all the children in the pre-school age enrolled at Anganwadi centres at least twice a year besides screening of all the children studying in Government & Government aided schools, whereas the newborns will be screened for birth defects in health facilities by service providers and during the home visits by ASHAs. It was further informed that District Early Intervention Centre in district Samba is planned to be set up as first referral point for further investigation, treatment & management of the referred children.
DDC impressed upon these teams to optimally utilize these vehicles to provide better health care services to the beneficiaries.
Among others Chief Planning Officer Samba, Chief Medical Officer Samba, Block Medical Officer Nud, Assistant Director Planning CMO Office Samba, Nodal Officer RBSK, District Programme Manager NRHM, District Accounts Manager NRHM besides Staff hired under RBSK, ASHA Workers were also present on the occasion.
