NOWSHERA, Aug 12: The people from Beri-Pattan area today blocked road at Gujral Chowk in Nowshera town and held protest demonstration against the State Government.
They were protesting against the decision of the Government to connect their villages with Sunderbani sub division after creation of new administrative units recently. They demanded that their villages be allowed to be connected with Nowshera Sub Division as it was closer and more convenient for them.
The villagers led by BJP leader Ravinder Raina staged massive protest in the main town and blocked the road at around 10.30 am. They were shouting slogans against the NC-Congress  Coalition Government. They said that this decision was not acceptable to them as they were not consulted over the issue. They described it as politically motivated move and claimed that they would fight against the decision.
Later, they `gheraoed’  the office of SDM Nowshera and also staged protest there. Later, a memorandum was also submitted to the Government to review this decision.  The protest continued for about two hours and the movement of vehicles also remained disrupted.
