JAMMU, Aug 12: A meeting of SKUAST-Jammu Teaching Association was held under the chairmanship of president Dr Vikas Sharma for discussing the issue regarding up gradation of SKUAST-Jammu to Central Agricultural University of Jammu.
Pointing out that Jammu province includes 10 districts and vast area from Lakhanpur to Doda and Rajouri- Poonch while SKUAST-Jammu has limited staff and resources thus making it difficult to cater to the needs of farmers in far flung areas, Dr Vikas Sharma said after getting Central Agriculture University Status, it will come under the direct control of Central Government and this will be a good confidence measure for the people of Jammu.
Dr Vivak M Arya, general secretary of the Association, appealed the Central Government to consider the genuine demand as there is no Central Agricultural University in the Northern India and Jammu division is the most suitable place for the same.
The meeting was attended by Dr P K Rai, Dr Devinder Sharma, Dr Rajeev Bharat, Dr Poonam Parihaar, Dr Jai Kumar, Dr Vijay Bahadur, Dr Vinod Gupta, Dr Vijay Bharti, Dr S P Singh, Dr B K Sinha, Dr A P Rai, Dr Bodhu Ram Bazaya and others.
