SRINAGAR, Aug 13: The employees of Jammu & Kashmir Women’s Development Corporation (JKWDC) will soon get 4th instalment (20%) of 6th Pay Commission arrears.
This decision was taken in the 20th Board of Directors meeting of the Corporation held under the chairmanship of Minister of Social Welfare, ARI and Training, Sakina Itoo, who is also the chairperson of the Board.
The instalment of arrears would be provided by the Corporation out of its own resources keeping in view the encouraging recovery process by the Corporation.
The meeting deliberated at length on the steps required to be taken for making the Corporation more efficient and at the same time provide more benefits to the under privileged sections of the society.
While reviewing the performance of the Corporation, it was informed that under SKEWPY the Corporation has so far succeeded in providing loans of Rs 13.25 crore to women entrepreneurs thereby empowering 863 women beneficiaries directly and generating self employment to more than 2580 women.
Similarly, under revolving fund, between 2011-12 and 2013-14, the Corporation succeeded in establishing 216 units and generating employment for 627 women.
Regarding the recovery process, it was told NPA of the Corporation stands only to the extent of 0.05 of the total loaning.
The Minister directed the Director, Social Welfare, Kashmir to visit all the community halls and submit the reports regarding financial implication for renovation of these halls so that the repairing of these would be taken up as early as possible.
Ms. Sakina emphasized on bringing more transparency and rationalization in loan disbursement so that all deserving beneficiaries get their due share without any discrimination at any level. She asked the officers to give focused attention on wide coverage of beneficiaries of rural and far-flung areas under the schemes of the corporation.
The Minister directed the concerned officers to organize more and more awareness camps in rural and far-flung areas to sensitize people about the various welfare schemes run by the Corporation and to develop confidence among the beneficiaries about various programmes of the Corporation as the main motive of the corporation is to work for socio-economic improvement of under privileged section of the society, she added.
Principal Secretary, Planning & Development, B D Sharma, Secretary Social Welfare Department, Mohammad Shafi Rather, Director General Budget, Mohammad Ishaq Wani, Director Codes, M. R. Indrabi, Managing Director, WDC, Nahid Soz and officers of allied departments were present on the occasion.
