India-Pak exchange sweets amid ceasefire violations in Poonch

JAMMU : Amid continuous ceasefire violations, both India and Pakistan today exchanged sweets on the occasion of August 14 (Pakistan’s Independence Day) on the Line of Control in Poonch district.
“Indian today handed over sweets to its counterpart Pakistan on the occasion of Independence Day at Chakkan-da-Bagh and Roshi Post in Poonch district,” official sources here today said.

They said that the Army from both the sides also greeted each other on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Pakistan troops yet again violated the truce by firing small arms this evening in Hamirpur area of Poonch district.

“Pak troops this evening at around 1730 hrs fired small arms and automatics in Hamirpur area,” official spokesperson here said, adding that Pakisan Army carried out unprovoked firing while own troops retaliated effectively.

“No casualty, injury or damage to property has been reported in the firing,” said the spokesperson.   Earlier, in less than 24 hours, Pakistan troops targeted the forward Indian posts along the Line of Control in Poonch district.

“Pakistan troops last night at around 2100 hrs fired small arms and automatics at forward posts in Hamirpur area of Bhimber Gali Sector in Poonch” said the spokesperson. One Army jawan also got injured yesterday in cross border firing when Pakistan violated ceasefire in BG Sector. (AGENCIES)
