JAMMU, Aug 16: Various State and Central Government Departments besides Public Sector Undertakings celebrated the Independence Day with patriotic fervor and gaiety.
Principal Resident Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir Lokesh Jha unfurled the National Flag at Jammu and Kashmir House 5-Prithvi Raj Road. A contingent of Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police presented the Guard of Honour on the occasion. The ceremonial function was attended by all the officers and officials of Jammu and Kashmir State, posted at New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Jha said, “this is the event to remember the martyrs and freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the nation and made freedom for India a present reality”, adding “it is due to their sacrifices that we are enjoying the fruits of freedom in a free India”.
Later, Principal Resident Commissioner interacted with the officers and officials and gave away special gifts and commendation certificates to all the participants.
Income Tax Department Jammu organised a function at Aayakar Bhawan to celebrate the 68th Independence Day. National Flag was unfurled by A K Thatai, Commissioner of Income Tax, J&K, Jammu.
A large number of officers, staff, advocates, chartered accountants, prominent tax payers etc. were present to pay their respect to the National Flag.
On the occasion, Mr Thatai emphasized that the meaning of the Independence is to be taken in the right perspective where everyone is required to put in his best for the progress of country and also to raise the honour of the country. He exhorted upon the officers and staff to put in their best efforts for achieving the action plan targets allotted to CIT, Jammu charge and if the action plan targets are achieved, this would be a service to the nation.
On the occasion, prizes were distributed to the winners of the drawing competition held on June 25, 2014 at Aayakar Bhawan and children of staff members who have excelled in academics in Board examination of 10th and 12th standard.
R K Kakkar, JCIT, Mini Chandran U, DCIT, Vikram Garg, Chairman NIRC, Jammu Chapter, Sat Mehta, President of Income Tax Bar Association, Rakesh Gupta, President of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Yash Pal Gupta, President of Associated Traders Federation, Vikrant Kuthiala, Chairman of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, R K Gupta CA, representative of J&K Bank Ltd (the highest tax payer) also spoke on the occasion.
The Independence Day celebration functions were also held in Income Tax Offices at Srinagar, Anantnag, Udhampur and Kathua.
Director General of Prisons P L Gupta, hoisted the National Flag at Central Jail, Srinagar.
The Deputy Inspector General of Prisons Dr M S Lone, Superintendent Central Jail Srinagar Javid Masood Fazili, Staff Officer to DG Prisons Saba Shawl and other officers and prisons staff were present on the occasion.
POWERGRID Northern Region Transmission System -II celebrated 68th Independence Day with patriotism and enthusiasm. Flag hoisting and cultural programmes were organized at all its establishments. across the region.
At its Regional Headquarters, Grid Bhawan, Jammu S K Sharma, Executive Director (Projects), NRTS -II, was the chief guest. He unfurled the National Flag in the presence of senior officials, Prof Meena Sharma, President Shrishti Mahila Samiti, employees, their families and children.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sharma, Executive Director gave a jist of the milestones achieved by POWERGRID in general and NRTS -II in particular during the last one year. He urged upon the employees to continue to serve the organization with dedication and sincerity. He elaborated on the responsibilities that are on the shoulders of each employee of POWERGRID for making India a power surplus country where manufacturing and other industries should have reliable and quality power available 24x7x365.
Various cultural programmes were presented by members of Shristi Mahila Samiti and children in which national fervor and patriotism was reflected.
Independence Day was also celebrated at Srinagar International Airport. S Raheja, Member (Planning), Airports Authority of India hoisted the National Flag. Various agencies— Airports Authority of India, J&K Police, CRPF, Airlines, Indian Oil, Commercial, Concessionaries and Passengers participated in the celebration.
The flag hoisting was the inauguration of the newly installed all weather illuminated monumental National Flag which is the first of its kind installed at AAI managed airports across the country. Further, in first phase, AAI has identified seven airports where such flags will be installed.
The high mast National Flag is 30.5 meter high with 20 feet by 30 feet flag which is 100% knitted polyester with reinforced super strong nylon webbing on all three sides with rope and toggle sleeve. The National Flag will remain hoisted 24 x 7, and will be illuminated during night time with metal halide luminors of 400 Watt focusing on the flag.
Salal Power Station celebrated Independence Day with patriotic zeal and fervor at Ram Lila ground Jyotipuram in which all employees of Power Station with families and local people participated.
A G Ansari, General Manager, Salal Power Station hoisted the National Flag followed by National Anthem and March Past by the CISF. Students of Play School and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jyotipuram performed dance on patriotic songs.
Kiran Wattal, Municipal Commissioner hoisted the National Flag at Jammu Municipal Corporation, Town Hall and presented mementos along with certificates to the officers/officials of different wings of JMC for their meritorious services rendered during the year 2013-14.
Among others Kapil Sharma, Joint Commissioner, Naresh Kumar, Secretary, Chief Accounts Officer, Health Officer, Deputy Director (P&S), Municipal Veterinary Officer, Chief Khilafwarzi Officers, Executive Engineers, President Safaikaramchari Union and other staff from the Corporation were present on the occasion.
Independence Day was also celebrated by NHPC at its Regional Office, Jammu. A large number of employees and CISF personnel participated. On this occasion, Om Prakash, Executive Director hoisted the Tricolor. Speaking on the occasion, he recalled the martyrs of freedom and advised the employees to work hard with dedication for progress and prosperity of the Nation.
The function concluded with distribution of sweets among the employees.
The Independence Day was also celebrated at Dulhasti Power Station and Burser HE Project with enthusiasm wherein a large number of employees, CISF personnel, their family members and school children participated. Arvind Bhat, General Manager, Dulhasti Power Station was the chief guest who unfurled the National Tricolor.
Speaking on the occasion, he paid homage to the martyrs of freedom who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country.
Independence Day was also celebrated at Super Specialty Hospital where Medical Superintendent Dr Ramesh Gupta unfurled the National flag.
Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation celebrated the Independence Day at Chanderkote where Abdul Wahid, Chief Engineer (Civil) Baglihar Hydroelectric Project unfurled the National Flag.
Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal celebrated the Independence Day with patriotic fervor with Dinesh Sharma, Superintendent unfurling the National Flag.
On the occasion, cultural programme was organized for the jail inmates, who too displayed their talent in poetry, singing, dancing and cultural activities.
The-day was also celebrated at Sub-Jail Reasi where Incharge Superintendent Madan Lal unfurled the National Flag. The guard of honor was presented by the Prisons Staff and IRP Jawans. Sweets were distributed among the staff and jail inmates.
Later, a colorful cultural programme was presented by the jail inmates.
At District Jail, Jammu, its Superintendent Harish Kotwal unfurled the National Flag in the jail premises. A captivating cultural programme was also organized on the occasion by the jail staff and prisoners.
Similarly, National Flag was unfurled at Sub-Jail Hiranagar by its Superintendent Lazer Khandayaray. On the occasion, Assistant Commandant of CRPF 121 Battalion Krishna Kumar, jail staff and CRPF personnel were present. Cultural programme was organized in order to highlight the importance of the day.
At Police Technical Training Institute, Vijaypur, its Principal (SSP) Ranjit Kanwar hoisted the National Flag in the presence of V K Jamwal, Vice-Principal, DySPs Ashok Kumar Chib, K K Zutshi, Satish Sharma, Romesh Chander, Madan Lal and Rajinder Sharma, Headmaster of Government Middle School Thalori.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal highlighted the importance of the day. He also distributed prizes among the participants of cultural programme and in the parade.
Police Transport Workshop celebrated the day with enthusiasm with Ranjit Singh Sambyal, Superintendent of Police unfurling the National Flag. He briefly addressed the gathering and appreciated the team work of the members of the workshop.
To celebrate 68th Independence Day, the Cultural Wing of Department of Information and Public Relations today organized a cultural extravaganza in the auditorium of Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
Divisional Commissioner Shantmanu was chief guest on the occasion.
The cultural programme was organised in collaboration with the Government College of Women, Gandhi Nagar.
The scintillating cultural program showcased composite culture of the country and left the jam-packed audience spell bound.
While greeting people on the Independence Day¸ the Divisional Commissioner said that with the joint efforts of Government and people, the state is marching fast on the path to development and prosperity.
Earlier, Joint Director Information Smita Sethi presented a brief resume of the activities of the department.
The colorful cultural programme, presented by the artists, depicted the composite culture of the state and showcased varied dance forms of all the three regions.
The cultural items included Sarasvati Vandana by GCW Parade, Vande Matram, Ladakhi and Punjabi dance by GCW Gandhi Nagar, a Chorus song Ýah Mandiron Ka Desh Hai-composed by Surjit Singh Sumbaria and following group by Usha Handoo, Neelam Gandotra, Nirmal Koul, Palvi Koul, Sunil Sharma, Kuldeep Kumar and Nirbay Singh, Dogri Geet ‘Sunne di Pakkhi’ by Sonali Dogra, Kashmiri Geet by Zulekha Farid and Patriotic song by Jeevan Sharma of Cultural Wing of Department of Information and Public Relations and Marathi dance’Lavni’ and Chorous ‘Azaadi Kay Liya Na Janee Kitna Khoon Bahana Pada-composed by Yash Pal Yash by MIER and Gidda by May Fair Higher Secondary School, Chand Nagar.
The musical instrumentalist included Bunty Kumar, Amit Kumar, Kamal Kumar, Bodh Raj and Amit Anand.
