SKIMS staff go on strike

non-gazetted staff of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura including the para medical staff went on an indefinite strike after two security guards were suspended by Director of the Institute following complaint that they beat up two doctors on July 13.
Acting on the complaint of Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of SKIMS-Soura, Director SKIMS, Dr. Showkat Ali Zargar suspended two security guards namely Ghulam Rasool and Javed Ahmad. The RDA which is on strike since July 14 had demanded action against the security guards alleging that their two colleagues Dr. Imran Bhat and Dr. Arafat were beaten up by the security guards inside the hospital premises on July 13.
Following today’s development the non-gazetted including the para-medics went on a strike and demanded immediate rollback of the suspension order of the two security guards. Due to the strike the healthcare was badly affected at the Institute forcing most of the patients to return back without getting treated.
It would be in place to mention here that Dr. Imran suffered serious head injury and he has been admitted in Accident and Emergency of the Neurosurgery department. The doctors had lodged an FIR against the two guards and demanded action against them.
