JAMMU, Aug 19: A large number of casual labours/ workers from PWD, PHE, JDA, Floriculture and Mechanical Engineering Deptt held strong protest demonstration outside the office of Divisional Commissioner at Rail Head complex, here today.
The workers from various agencies under the banner of J&K National Trade Union Front led by Gafoor Dar assembled at Rail Head complex and then moved towards Divisional Commissioner’s office on Railway Road. They were demanding their regularisation. They also demanded that definite policy be framed for their regularization in the Government job.
They alleged that many workers were engaged for the last even eight to ten years but they have not been regularized. The Government must absorb them as permanent workers. They shouted slogans in support of their demand and also against the State authorities. The workers alleged that despite several assurances nothing has been done to regularize them. Several Union leaders including Mr Dar, Nazir Ahmed Moulvi and Rajinder Kumar addressed the rally.
