Chain snatching, vehicle lifting gangs operating in Gandhi Nagar

JAMMU, Aug 19: Notwithstanding claims of Police Department to curb the crime from the society, chain snatching and vehicle lifting gangs are still operative in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar Police Station.
In fresh case of chain snatching incident, two motorcycle borne youth snatched gold chain from neck of a woman namely Sarla Koul, wife of Ashok Koul of Talab Tillo. The victim was going to a nursing home at Gandhi Nagar when the chain snatchers snatched gold chain from her neck.
The woman reported the matter to Police Station Gandhi Nagar and a case under relevant sections was registered. No arrest was made in this regard when reports last came in.
Meanwhile, a Pulsar motorcycle was also stolen from Nai Basti area of Gandhi Nagar in broad daylight today.
During afternoon a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02BG-2498 was parked near Nai Basti area of Gandhi Nagar by the owner of the motorcycle namely Ajay Raina, son of Shuban Kumar Raina, a resident of Lakshmi Nagar, Muthi.
After some time, when owner of the motorcycle returned he found that the motorcycle was missing. He inquired from the nearby shopkeepers but failed to get any clue.
Later, he approached Police Station Gandhi Nagar and reported the matter. Accordingly a case under FIR number 178/14 was registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station and investigation started.
However, police failed to recover the stolen motorcycle and arrest the thieves, when last reports were compiled.
