BJP Ladakh calls on Raj Nath Singh

New Delhi, Aug 21; A delegation of BJP Ladakh led by Thupstan Chhewang Member  Parliament, Chering Dorje president BJP Leh and Haji Gulam Mohd Khudam, president BJP Kargil called on Union Home Minister, Raj Nath Singh here today.
The delegation appealed the Minister for early solutions of public grievances of Ladakh region. The Minister assured that the due consideration will be given to their demands and action as soon as possible to the memorandum submitted by the delegation will be taken. The delegation invited the Minister to visit both Leh and Kargil districts the region which eh accepted.
The memorandum demanded empowerment of Hill Councils,  inclusion of Bhoti language in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution , raising of more battalion of Ladakh Scouts, improving road connectivity in the Himalayan region, taking up of Skill Development
in hand, promotion of tourism in Ladakh region, construction of new motorable bridge over river Indus at Agling – Palam, breaking of all large projects in small packages and allotment of these packages to local constructors as promised.
It also demanded boosting the Pashmina Industry in Leh, development of seabuckthorn,  and Apricot in the region, opening of route for Kailash-Mansarovar yatra via Leh, opening of tourist resorts,  upgrading Central Institute of Buddhist Studies (CIBS), air connectivity to Kargil, creating Army-civilian liaison ,opening of  road to Skardu, construction of  a multi-purpose tunnel at Khardung-La, permission for tourism on Sumoor-Yarma Gonbo axis and construction of Chadar road.
The delegation later called on Minister for Minority Affairs, Dr Najma Heptula and demanded implementation of Minority Welfare Schemes in Ladakh region.
