JAMMU, Aug 22: On the concluding day of celebration of Jashn-e-Azadi-2014, a Dogri Mushaira was organized jointly by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu and PG Department of Urdu, University of Jammu here today.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kalyan Singh Parihar, was the chief guest on this occasion while Prof Champa Sharma, former, HoD Dogri, University of Jammu presided over the function.
Dr Archana Kesar HoD, Dogri, University of Jammu and Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary were also in the presidium.
Kalyan Singh Parihar appreciated the new initiatives by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in preparing a 2nd line of the litterateurs by approaching the respective departments. While appreciating the participation of young poets in today’s programme, he emphasized that youth should use the medium of poetry to inculcate the moral values in present generation .
Prof Champa Sharma appreciated the role of the J&K Cultural Academy in organizing such programmes with an aim to create interest among the new generation especially the scholars and students and said that it is a welcome step.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Ashok Gupta, Editor Dogri of the Academy and vote of thanks was presented by Dr Archana Kesar, HoD Dogri.
A galaxy of intellectuals, writers from different walks of life, students and scholars were present on the occasion.
