JAMMU, Aug 22: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party chief patron Bhim Singh today accused State Congress of competing with Bharatiya Janata Party to appropriate the ‘Hindutva’ plank for the Assembly elections due in November-December.
Stating that the J&K Congress and BJP leaders have been exploiting the electorate in Jammu under one pretext or the other, Prof Singh said in a statement here that there is “no surprise that J&K Congress leaders out of sheer frustration and panic have started blowing horn of ‘Hindutva’ in J&K demanding ‘a Hindu’ Chief Minister in the state”. “A Congress leader from Jammu has started advocating for a Hindu Chief Minister in J&K with an attempt to woo the majority in Jammu for the coming Assembly polls. The Congress has started new stunt after their complete rout in the Lok Sabha polls in Jammu,” the NPP stalwart alleged. He also lambasted BJP for exploiting Jammu electorate on the same slogan for years. On the other hand, the Kashmir valley-based political parties have been abetting the BJP to create communal passion in Jammu so that the Kashmir-based parties can reap the harvest in Kashmir valley, he said. “There is no prohibition in inducting a Chief Minister from any religion, race or region provided he is a voter in J&K and a permanent resident of the State,” said Prof Bhim Singh, adding that Congress and National Conference have been sharing power for 60 years then why did the Congress not go for a Hindu Chief Minister.
Prof Singh said the people in J&K have been experiencing the political leadership of Congress, NC, PDP and BJP for long and this time the Panthers Party shall expose their game plans in the coming Assembly polls.
