Freight rates decline on excess position of trucks

NEW DELHI, Aug 23:  Freight rates for nine-tonne pay load section eased by Rs 1,000 in the local truck transport market today following excess availability of trucks in the markets against restricted cargo movements.
Transporters said easy availability of trucks against restricted cargo movements pulled down some centres’ freight rates.
Delhi to Kanpur, Indore and Chandigarh rates moved down by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 20,500, Rs 21,000 and Rs 19,000.
Rates to Jaipur, Pune, and Pondicherry also went down by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 17,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 66,000.
