Moral education vital for students’ overall development: Bhalla

KATRA, Aug 23: Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports Raman Bhalla has called upon the teaching fraternity to ensure quality education to the students besides thrusting equal focus on enthusing high ethos among them which is pre-requisite for their overall development.
The Minister said this while addressing a large gathering of teachers, parents, students after inaugurating ‘Itsy, Bitsy’-dance, karate, singing, art and craft activity zone’ in the premises of  Dev Kids World School at Katra, here today.
Member Legislative Assembly Baldev Raj Sharma, President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma, Additional SP, Kulbir Singh, Director of the institute Arvind Sharma and Principal Ajay Singh Kotwal were also present on the occasion.
On the occasion, students of the Dev Kids World School, Katra presented colourful cultural items which were highly applauded by the jam-packed audience.
Mr. Bhalla congratulated ‘Itsy, Bitsy’ management for upbringing and giving opportunity to new talent in the field of dance, karate and singing activity zone to the children of Katra town.
Spelling out measures of the Government for spreading the reach of education in the state, Mr. Bhalla informed that free education is being extended to below poverty line students. Besides, government provides free books, mid-day meal and uniforms he added saying that scores of schools have been opened and upgraded in every nook and corner of the state under RAMSA and SSA.
The Minister highlighted the role of the teachers and parents in the life of the children and stressed on the need of a strong partnership among them. He asked the students to work hard and achieve excellence in their objectives. He urged the younger generation to participate in co-curricular activities as they are essential for making the students physically and mentally fit.
