JAMMU, Aug 24: To improve power scenario in Nanak Nagar, Digiana, Shastri Nagar, Rani Talab, Karan Bagh, Preet Nagar and its adjoining localities, Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports Raman Bhalla today dedicated Rs 4 crore 10 MVA power stations to the above said areas people.
The powers stations have been dedicated to the inhabitants under Restructured-Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Program (R-APDRP) funding.
After dedication of the two power stations, Mr. Bhalla addressed a gathering at Shastri Nagar and said with the installation of 10 MVA power stations at Lower Gaddigarh and Nanak Nagar Sector-14, the power scenario in Nanak Nagar, Digiana, Shastri Nagar, Rani Talab, Karan Bagh, Preet Nagar and its adjoining localities has improved and problems of uninterrupted and fluctuate power supply to the inhabitants solved to a large extent.
The Minister said that directions have been issued to the Power Development Department to gear up its men and machinery in installing the new power stations in the power deficit areas of the urban pockets under R-APDRP scheme.
Mr. Bhalla called upon the people to use power judiciously and regularize their power connections for regular and un-interrupted power supply. He said Government was committed to provide regular power supply in metered areas of the State.
Earlier, at Shanti Nagar in Kunjwani and Shastri Nagar, the Minister inaugurated multipurpose community halls, completed by Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board at an estimated cost of Rs. 81 lakh.
After inauguration of the Multipurpose Community Halls, Mr. Bhalla interacted with the people and said on the inauguration of the halls, the residents of the areas would arrange their social as well as religious functions there on minimum charges. He said the halls would be able to also provide relief to poor who are not affording the much cost of private constructed city halls.
Mr. Bhalla called upon the people to come forward and take maximum benefit of welfare schemes for their economic development. He urged them to protect public property in their respective colonies.
