LEH, Aug 25: Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Rigzin Spalbar today inaugurated 10-day workshop for ZRPs and CRPs on “Theatre in Education” organised by J&K Cultural Academy and Education Department.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Spalbar said that art, culture, language, moral values and behavioural attitude are not something to be managed or preserve by money, neither can it be left entirely on Government to look after, it is the responsibility of every Ladakhi to contribute in preserving and promoting rich cultural heritage.
He said that such workshops would help youth immensely in their overall development and keep them rooted to their real identity. The CEC said that a system has been formulated at Council level to ensure promotion and preservation of art, culture and language for which a committee has also been set up to encourage and boost organisations or individual engaged in this field.
The Workshop Director, Mipham Otsal said that theater is not just to entertain but is one of the best communication mediums used by scholars, scientists, socialists etc all over the world to educate and inform the masses. “Theater deals with humanity and humanity develop with children and I’m very hopeful that this workshop will prove highly fruitful in making our children well civilized, cultured and good humans,” said Otsal.
“The aim of the workshop is to find out means to apply the concept of theater in education in the society and to make this subject a medium to spread the message of rich cultural heritage among the children of Ladakh besides to explore methods to communicate it in a comprehensive manner to the students”, said Paljor, Special Culture Officer, Leh.
