J&K Assembly witness four walkouts by PDP, NPP, BJP and CPI-M

SRINAGAR :  Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today witnessed four walkouts during the Question-Hour by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), National Panthers Party (NPP), CPI(M) and BJP members on various  reasons.
The first walkout was staged by NPP and lone CPI(M) member Mohammad Yousuf Targami who wanted a discussion on price rise in the state.
The NPP members led by Haresh Dev Singh were on their feet shortly before the speaker took up the first question of the day after about 20 minutes disruption by the opposition, demanding suspension of the business and discussion on adjournment motion moved by them (NPP) to discuss price rise.
They were also joined by Mr Targami who also demanded a discussion saying it has become impossible for common people to survive when prices of everything has gone up several fold.
Where are ‘ Acha din’ as promised by the BJP during electioneering, Mr Singh asked.
He said there was unprecedented rise in the prices of everything, particularly essentials. Profiteering and black marketing has also increased, he said, adding Centre has to take measures to control it.
Mr Singh said state also has to check the price rise so that people dont feel the burden.
However, speaker Mubarak Gul disallowed the motion and said he has directed the government to make a statement on the floor of the House.
This further agitated the NPP members who stormed into the Well of the House, raising slogans ‘ Gareeb Aadmi Ko Insaaf Do’, Mahangayee Ko Rook Lagav’.    Mr Targami, who remained standing near his seat did not join NPP members who continued slogan shouting in the Well.    Later, NPP members and lone CPI(M) member walked out from the house in protest.
