SRINAGAR, Aug 29: Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi, Dy. Director General, of Doordarshan, called on N.N. Vohra, Governor, here at the Raj Bhavan today.
Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi, presented to the Governor a copy of the ‘Barff Par Bane Padhchin’ (Footprints in the Snow).
This book, the latest Hindi translation of the Akademi award winning Kashmiri book ‘Sheen Te Votpd’, encompasses the life and times of the Gujjar community. It takes a special look at their daily lives, from the food they eat to the traditions which define and influence their culture.
As this community has gained progressive prosperity, it has found the means to rapidly and smoothly adapt to the changing times and circumstances, from year to year, and the Gujjar community has found a harmonious balance between the past and the present, which makes Gujjars an inherent part of the Kashmir cultural scenario. Blending the original book with modern sensibility Dr. Masoodi has succeeded in giving a contemporary flavor to his work.
The Governor complimented Dr. Masoodi for his literary contributions and wished him continuing successes in all his future endeavours.
