Ex-gratia for Muthi accident victims demanded

JAMMU, Sept 1: A delegation of Panun Kashmir led by its convener, Dr Agnishekhar and residents of Kothian Netar Barnai called on SSP Jammu and demanded immediate arrest of two car borne youth who in a drunken condition hit a scooty at Akhnoor road near Muthi on August 25 resulting into instant death of father-son duo and serious injuries to the lady pillion rider.
The delegation demanded immediate arrest of the culprits as their action under law against them. The delegation said that the youth in the car first hit one scooter and later hit the fateful scooty on which a couple and their six year old child were riding.
While the father and son died in the fatal accident the poor lady has been shifted to Amritsar hospital where she is battling for her life, they said, adding that the accident sent shock waves across the area and people came to streets in protest.
The delegation also demanded payment of ex-gratia to the tune of Rs one lakh each to the victims’ family as it has no source of livelihood. The old aged parents of the deceased, his wife and a daughter were dependent on the support of their sole bread earner who too was snatched in this accident and family has no resource for survival, the delegation added.
