SRINAGAR, Sept 2: One-day State level Vendor Development Programme was organized by MSME Development Institute (Ministry of MSME), Government of India, in association with National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and Power Grid Corporation limited at Lassipora-Pulwama.
The programme benefitted more than 40 existing entrepreneurs having their own Micro or Small enterprises in Kashmir valley. The programme was aimed at sensitizing the existing entrepreneurs about Public Procurement Policy (PPP) announced by Central Government in the year 2012.
Virinder Sharma, Director, MSME Development Institute, Jammu, while speaking on the occasion explained the participants the salient features of the policy, which States that a minimum 20 percent share out of the total procurement by Central Government Ministries, departments and public sector undertakings are to be made from MSE.
He informed that MSEs those registered with District Industries Centers (DICs), Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB), Coir Board, NSIC, Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom or any other body specified by Ministry of MSME are eligible for availing benefits under Public Procurement Policy.
Officers from NHAI, Central Public Works Department and Power Grid Corporation of India Limited also addressed the gathering and assured all possible cooperation to the entrepreneurs to take the maximum benefits under the scheme.
The local entrepreneurs actively participated in the programme and raised queries which were aptly addressed by the Government officers.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Shailender Singh, Assistant Director, MSME Development Institute, Jammu.
