Exclusive public hearing for women to be held on Sept 10

UDHAMPUR Sept 2: Responding to an initiative of Destitute and Handicapped Welfare Association (DAHWA), District Development Commissioner Udhampur Yasha Mudgal has announced to hold exclusive public durbar of women to listen to their problems and to take remedial and preventive measures to address these in a time bound manner.
Interacting with the first women group belonging to minority Muslim community of Ramnagar and its periphery, set up by DAHWA under Centrally Sponsored Nai Roshni Scheme, the District Development Commissioner expressed her appreciation to the dynamism of young ladies for seeking redressal to their problems.
Ms Mudgal exuded confidence that such an initiative will keep the Government abreast with the problems of people, especially those living in rural and remote areas. “We will certainly draw appropriate strategy to see how the problems of rural areas especially the women are minimised and solved on immediate basis”, she said.
The group members brought to the notice of district administration certain problems of their area, especially damage to a transformer that had deprived the locality of much crucial electricity for the past several days. Responding to the problem, instructions were passed on-the-spot and the damaged transformer was replaced on immediate basis in Palnoo village.
Chairman DAHWA S S Sumbria said the women were very receptive to the scheme and during their awareness course they showed lot of enthusiasm in seeking redressal to their problems.
Nai Roshni, launched under the aegis of Union Ministry for Minority Affairs, aims at development of women belonging to minority community and to train them for highlighting community problems.
The women group was comprised of Shamim Akhtar, Parveen Begum, Vimal Devi, Madhu Bala, Makhani Devi, Renu Devi, Mamta Devi and Champa Devi besides other beneficiaries.
