JAMMU, Sept 4: Kiran Wattal, Municipal Commissioner conducted a tour of the city areas in view of incessant rain and forecast of inclement weather to assess the problems related to flooding and sanitary conditions.
The areas visited include Jewel, Krishna Nagar, Science College, Lajpat Nagar, Perkhoo, Sheedi Chowk, DPS School, Smadhian Road, Shetla Mata Mandir etc.
During the tour, the inspection of unsafe buildings located at Mast Garh and Peerkho was made. Instructions were issued to engineering section to survey all such buildings especially those in old city areas for initiating action as provided under Municipal Corporation Act to save the life and property of nearby residents. Directions were also issued to complete the leftover upgradation work of lanes in Ward No. 2
The Commissioner also took stock of nallah flowing through Krishna Nagar area and reviewed the desilting work. Explicit directions were issued to sanitation wing for removing the blockages in drains, so as to stop flow of drainage water to the houses of residents.
Among others Kapil Sharma, Joint Commissioner, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Executive Engineers, Executive Engineer (UEED), Chief Transport Officer, Cum-post Transport Officer, Sanitation Officers and other staff from the Corporation accompanied the Commissioner during the tour.
