Omar oversees rescue operation till late last night

Remains with rescue teams during evacuation operation

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah till late last night personally oversaw the rescue and relief operation carried by Army, State Police and Civil Administration ,at Barzulla and adjacent areas to evacuate people from submerged areas.

The Chief Minister remained with rescue teams while the patients and inmates of Barzulla hospital were evacuated from the hospital to the safer places and people from other submerged areas rescued. The rescue operation continued throughout the night.

No loss of life has been reported in the submerged areas which were hit by flood current due to breeches in Jhelum bund at some places.

The Chief Minister also visited Channapora, Natipora, Padshahibagh and Bemina areas in the night hours. He has given strict directions to the administration for taking all measures to safeguard the human lives. He told the administration to make safety of human beings first priority while conducting rescue operations.

The Chief Minister has also directed for establishing shelter camps for the affected families and providing food, blankets, medicines and other items of requirement to them.

The Chief Minister has already sanctioned Rs. 20 crores to meet the emergency expenditure on account of rescue and relief operation.
