Thousands trapped after flash flood washes away bridge in Budgam

SRINAGAR :  Thousands of people were trapped in many villages in central Kashmir district of Budgam as a bridge, connecting these areas with the rest of the valley, was swept away due to flash floods triggered by incessant rain for the past five days.
Official sources here today said all road communication with the villages around Tosamadam firing range in Budgam was cut off after the bridge was washed away by flash floods.    Thousands of people have been trapped in these villages, they said, adding water has also entered these areas forcing the villagers to move to higher grounds.    Rescue teams have been sent to the area, they said, adding efforts are going on to safely evacuate the trapped  villagers.
