JAMMU, Sept 6: The inhabitants of 22 Suriya Vihar Bohri faced a nightmarish situation with flood water of a nallah passing through the area entering the lane and some residential houses adjoining it.
The residents said that despite making repeated attempts to the concerned authorities time and again they have failed to give proper treatment to the nallah and every time during the rainy season the people especially school going children are put to hardships as the flood water accumulated into the lane and enters the residential houses.
They said for last two days people are facing a nightmarish experience after the nallah which is in furry inundated the area. They said with barriers created in the nallah at low lying areas, the flood water not finding a passage gets diverted towards the lane entering the compounds of many residential houses in the area.
They said the people of the area have been facing this problem constantly for a pretty long time and in past also they took up the issue with the authorities of JMC and after inspecting the area they failed to find an everlasting solution to the problem.
They said that the authorities have constructed a deep drain in the area but have failed to link their lane to it. They said though it is a routine problem in every rainy season in the area and this time when rains created havoc in entire State, the people in the area have also been worst hit by nallah floods.
