DUBAI, Sept 7: India will organising a conference in Abu Dhabi aimed at improving the delivery of services for the welfare of Indians living in the UAE.
The day-long meet on September 13 is being jointly organised by the Indian Embassy and the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, with nine Indian states participating in the event.
The meet will bring representatives of various state governments from India in direct interaction with the delegates of the Indian Community in the UAE.
The theme of the meeting is “Working together: Improving Service Delivery”. Nine state governments (Bihar, Rajasthan, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Punjab, Telangana, West Bengal) the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands have confirmed their participation, the embassy said.
The primary objective of the event is to improve the delivery of services for the welfare of Indians by working together with various Indian associations and organisations active in the UAE.
The conference will afford an opportunity to the Indian community and their representatives to interact directly with the representatives of state governments and apprise them of the issues being faced by the Overseas Indians in UAE as well as back home in India.
It will also afford an opportunity to the representatives of the states to explain about the various activities, programmes, schemes, etc being undertaken by them for the welfare of NRIs back home in India. It aims to synergies the efforts of various stakeholders, namely, the Indian Community and Associations, Embassy and the Consulate and various state governments for the welfare and redressal of grievances of Indians working and living in UAE.
Four working sessions will be held on different topics such as welfare measures for Indian migrants: government of India and state government initiatives and grievance redressal of Indians in UAE. Return and resettlement of Indian migrants will also be discussed during the conference.
This is a first of its kind initiative, involving state governments in direct interaction with the Overseas Indian Community. (PTI)
