The State and Central Governments have scaled up their rescue and relief operations in flood ravaged Kashmir valley. The operations, if one goes by. TV channels and media reports have mainly remained confined to Srinagar city. While one does not know the fate of people living in other flood affected areas like Pulwama and Anantnag.
The problem of people has further compounded due to snapping of communication lines.
Neither mobile, nor land line network is available. As people fail to contract their relatives, kith and kin, it is leading them to desperation and anxiety. The Government agencies must therefore attach more importance to setting up helplines, and putting in place communication network. The mobile service providers who had been making money before floods are seen nowhere. The emerging helplines too have failed people.
The Government must therefore accord priority to restoring communication network.
