Power crisis: Slathia appeals people to keep patience

SAMBA, Sept 10: Former Minister and MLA Vijaypur, Surjit Singh Slathia has appealed the people of Vijaypur constituency to keep patience over power crisis in whole of the constituency due to recent floods.
Addressing media persons at Vijaypur in district Samba, Slathia disclosed that around 80 electric transformers have been damaged due to heavy rainfall and floods some days back. He said the State has never seen such a situation in last 60 years in which hundreds of people lost their lives and property worth several crores damaged.
Slathia said the Government is trying to restore the electric infrastructure. But as the damage is quite large restoration of power may take at least a week’s time, he said and made a fervent appeal to the people of the constituency to keep patience.
He said the State Government has decided to take Government as well as private agencies’ help to restore power infrastructure including repairing of power transformers. He appealed the people to cooperate in this hour of need and not to pay heed to those who are trying to take benefits by playing political games.
The MLA also appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and State Government for providing timely assistance to the distressed people of the State.
