The Centre is contemplating move to effect hike in monthly cash relief to Kashmiri migrants, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said today.
“The Government is also considering to enhance the cash relief to Kashmiri migrants from the present level of Rs 6,600 per month per family to Rs 10,000, Mr Singh told the press conference held here for briefing over his Ministry’s performance during the 100-day regime of Modi Government.
He said an allocation of Rs 500 crore has been made in the current fiscal budget for rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants.
In view of the past experience, it has been felt that the package should be carefully finalised in consultation with the State Government and the representatives of the migrants.
“Discussions are being held with the State Government and the representatives of the migrants to finalise the ingredients of the return and rehabilitation package and roadmap for action on the issue,” he said. (UNI)
