MENDHAR, Sept 13: Eleven members of two families were injured in a cylinder explosion at village Behra in tehsil Mendhar of district Poonch last night.
A police spokesman said that two families including women and children were injured late last night when a cylinder exploded in the house of Mohd Arif at Behra, who had reached home after long stay in Saudi Arabia.
He said the explosion was so powerful that it created panic in the area and the locals rushed to the site. The Police on receiving information about the incident immediately rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation.
The injured were shifted to the Sub District Hospital Mendhar from where they were referred to the Government Medical College Hospital Jammu.
The injured were identified as Mohd Arif (26), son of Allah Ditta of Behra, Irfan Ahmed (17), son of Farooq Khan of Behra, Mohd Basharat (24), son of Allah Ditta, Rehmat Jan (60), wife of Allah Ditta, Parvez Akhtar, wife of Zaffar Iqbal, Nargis Kouser (15), daughter of Farooq Khan, Zahida Kouser (20), daughter of Allah Ditta, Liaqat Ali (25), son of Sher Khan of Pathana Teer, Sharayat Ali (12), son of Sher Khan of Pathana Teer, Shabaz Kouser (10), daughter of Sher Khan and Nazma Kouser (20), daughter of Sher Khan of Pathana Teer, all residents of Pathana Teer.
