DDC visits flood affected areas

SAMBA: Sept 13: District Development Commissioner, Samba conducted tour of flood affected areas to take stock of ongoing restoration and rehabilitation of the flood affected people.
He visited various villages-Bara, Dagore, Indira Colony-Barian where about 10-15 houses have been severely damaged and five houses have been fully damaged, due to heavy landslides.
The DDC issued on spot instructions to Assistant Commissioner Development, Samba to take up the protection work of the land in and around the houses to prevent further damage to the houses, besides providing free ration for two months and blankets to the sufferers whose houses have been completely damaged.
He also visited Gujjar Basti-Barian where a number of houses have been severely affected due to floods. The Assistant Director, CA&PD, Samba was asked to provide free ration to the sufferers.
Later, DDC also visited villages ‘viz’ Dhora, Mananu, Nud, Palth and met people in these villages, besides Sarpanches/Panches and other prominent persons of the area and assured them of the relief and rehabilitation at the earliest.
The DDC also met Drivers/Cleaners of more than hundred Srinagar bound trucks which are held up at Nud due to blockage of National Highway. DDC directed AD  CA&PD to provide free ration to them.
He among others was accompanied by Vivek Sharma-ADDC, M. Y. Malik, ACR, Pardeep Manhas-ACD, Sonu Pargal, SDM Vijaypur, Executive Engineer I&FC, BDO-Samba.
Later, the DDC also held a meeting of district officers to review the ongoing process of assessment of damages and restoration works of infrastructure/utilities to expedite the process of sanctioning and distribution of relief .He constituted a committee of officers under the overall supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner and asked the committee members to make all out efforts to provide relief to the sufferers on war footing.
