Many families still trapped in flood waters in Srinagar

JAMMU, Sept 13: Many families are still trapped in flood waters at Indira Nagar and other places of Srinagar City and rescue teams have not reached to them so far.
Five Secretariat employees are trapped in hotel Poponotch Indira Nagar for over one week now while many people are trapped in different parts of the city and their families are still making distress calls to know about their welfare.
Government failed to rescue the wife of Martyr Prem Nath Bhat, her daughter and son in-law who were trapped in flood waters at Shivpora.
According to family despite taking up the issue with higher ups in Government to rescue the family no steps were taken in this regard. And it was only after two of the relatives of family flew from Mumbai today and hired a private boat in which they visited to the house where the family was trapped.
They were shocked to see some members lying in unconscious state. Later they rescued the family in the same boat and took it to a near by hotel.
Meanwhile, Ramesh Chander an Accounts Officer in Stationery and Supplies Department said that two Secretariat employees Harish Chander and Surinder Kumar who are staying in Lee Grand Hotel Raj Bagh are safe as they were with him yesterday.
Chander, who was also trapped in flood waters in Srinagar said he met the duo yesterday and they are safe.
