Chib takes stock of damages in R S Pura

JAMMU, Sept 14: Former Minister and general secretary, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), RS Chib took an extensive tour of border areas of R S Pura sub-division in order to take stock of the damage caused to houses and other property, due to heavy rains and floods.
Chib, after visiting the villages viz. Suchetgarh, Nai Basti, Abdal, Falora, Kapoorpur, Chak-sheikh, and Badyal Qazian said that both pacca and kaccha houses have been damaged by the incessant rains.
While interacting with the people at different places, he assured them that a reasonable amount of compensation as per the damage will be paid to house owners according to the quantum of loss.
Chib also spoke to the SDM RS Pura and sought his personal intervention in assessing the loss of houses and crops in the flood hit areas like Kadial, Badyal-Brahmania, Dherian, Bikrama, Sangwal, Fatehpur-Brahmina, Hansa-chak, Samka, Tonkani, Bera, Bega, Choga, Gopar-Basti, Chanduchak, Abdullian and Bakarpur.
On farmers’ complaint that the damage caused to the crops due to floods is not being assessed properly by the Department of Agriculture, Chib asked the SDM to personally intervene and ensure that an extensive survey is carried out by the concerned authorities.
Chib also urged upon the authorities to compensate those farmers whose pumpsets, electric motors or diesel engines have been washed away in flash floods.
Observing that a large number of power transformers are damaged in different areas of RS Pura, Chib demanded that the unserviceable transformers be replaced within 24 hours.
