JAMMU, Sept 15: All J&K PHE ITI Trained and CP Workers’ Association today staged a protest demonstration in front of Press Club, here demanding immediate payment of pending wages of the daily wagers affected with the flood so that they could repair their houses damaged in the flood.
A large number of daily wagers and members of the Association participated in the protest and demanded the Government to provide immediate relief to the flood affected daily wagers by paying their pending daily wages. The president of R&B Daily Wagers Union also participated in the protest.
“The Government should provide immediate relief to all flood affected people including daily wagers of the department to mitigate their sufferings”, Tanveer Husain, president of the Association said.
Hussain also urged the Chief Engineer PHE, Jammu to help the flood affected people by contributing one day salary of all daily wagers.
He also criticized the Government for giving false assurances time and again regarding formulation of regularization policy for daily wagers. He said few days back during the agitation of the Association, the Government had assured to formulate the policy for regularization of daily wagers within seven days, but nothing was done in this regard.
Hussain warned the Government of resuming the agitation for the rights of daily wagers once the current situation due to floods comes under control.
In the end all the members kept silence for two minutes for the people who lost their lives in recent floods.
