Woman washed away in nallah, three rescued

DODA, Sept 15: A woman was washed away in strong water currents after falling in Dessa nallah, while three others were rescued by the Army here.
A Defence spokesman said that Seema Devi, wife of Sanjay Kumar and Kumi Devi, wife of Roshan Lal along with their children Monika Thakur (8), and Manisha Thakur (6) were crossing Dessa nallah at village Gei when suddenly the water level rose.
Seema Devi slipped and fell into the nallah, dragging the others also, he said, adding that they were caught in heavy flow of water in the nallah which is in spate due to the recent heavy rains.
Noticing the incident, locals ran to the army camp at Gei and troops rushed to the site and started rescue operation.
The personnel managed to rescue Kumi Devi and the two girls, he said, adding that after evacuating the ladies, immediate first aid was provided by the army nursing assistant and all three were taken to the nearest civil hospital, where their condition was stated to be stable.
He further stated that Seema Devi had already been already washed away in the strong currents and her body was later found 800 metres downstream in Dessa nallah.
