JAMMU, Sept 18: The J&K Agri Entrepreneurship Development Association (JKAEDA) has urged upon the State Government to provide adequate compensation to the farmers whose crops and vegetables have been damaged in recent rains and floods.
Kulbhushan Khajuria, president of the farmers’ body claimed that floods and soil erosion have caused heavy damage in plain areas of Jammu, Marh, Akhnoor, R S Pura, Bishnah, Vijaypur and Samba. The crops of farmers including vegetables have suffered much damage. The rate for compensation announced by Government Rs 25,000 per Ha in case of erosion, Rs 9000 per Ha for crops, Rs 8100 per ha for desilting , Rs 16, 000 per cattle is not sufficient. He demanded that this compensation be given hike.
Mr Khajuria also demanded jobs for a family member of the deceased persons. He also demanded creation of Farmers Relief Fund.
