Install whole body truck scanners at LoC: JKJCCI chief

JAMMU, Sept 23: President Jammu and Kashmir Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JKJCCI), Y V Sharma interacted with the members of Joint Chamber  from PoK via Skype to discuss various problems faced by business men on both sides of  LoC as a result of recent rains and floods.
Mr Sharma has sympathised with people who have suffered  due to rains and floods across LoC and wanted to know whether  people from this side could render any help to them. The leaders of the Joint Chamber   were also keen to come to help the   people of  this side and wanted to know the mechanism through which they could send their help. As this is a matter between two countries, Mr Sharma could not commit anything but thanked  them for the offer. However, he assured that he would consult the authorities in this regard and would covey to them about their response.
Some of the people from PoK who had come to this side of the LoC to meet their relations, had got stuck and had over stayed were helped by the Passport Authorities to travel back home via Poonch.
Mr Sharma also appreciated that LoC trade has also been resumed with the efforts of the State Government .However he appealed to Government to make trade hassle free by reducing the inter agency involvement in the matter.
He suggested that  a simple mechanism be allowed to clear all formalities without any difficulty. He also suggested the installation of whole body truck scanners to facilitates the smooth function of trade along LoC , the members of Joint Chamber as well as traders referred to some  difficulties at the level of the officers and suggested that the people employed at the facilitation centre should be kept under frequent transfers so that no vested interestes are created .He was also briefed by the traders at Poonch that some new traders are being registered to do cross LoC business without proper verification.
